We’re about to get into full swing soliciting people to give talks at Ignite Phoenix, and one of the biggest points I want to clarify is that all you need right now is an idea. That’s it!
Presentations are not due until the end of July, and we’ll be sending out the template when the deadline gets closer. All we’re looking for now are the ideas, the two sentence pitch that tells what you want to talk about. Here are a few examples, entirely fabricated by me, to get th creative juices flowing:
Title: Green is the new Black
Abstract: The Green movement is becoming so trendy that it will defeat its own goals. How can we really save the planet?
Title: Open Source Software Has Failed
Abstract: Open source software had a goal of combating the traditional software regime, but its made only minor inroads. To really succeed it needs to borrow some plays from the Microsoft handbook.
Title: Anti-Social Media
Abstract: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, aren’t social media apps at all. They keep people sitting in their homes, thinking they are really interacting when they never get outside and meet anyone! The next killer social media app will get people to stop using it and go outside!
Title: Artistic Gang Wars
Abstract: Rather than cooperating across the Valley, pockets of artists group together, entrench, and do battle to advance their own niche. It’s photographers versus painters versus musicians in an all out cultural bloodbath that you won’t hear about on the evening news!
What do you think? I just made those up, but if you want to give that talk, sign up. Want to give the opposite of one of those talks, sign up! All you need right now is something that small and a conviction that on August 12th you can stand up and dive into it in more depth.
