Ignite Phoenix is an amazing opportunity for the local Phoenix-metro community to share its most passionate ideas. In one evening, you will hear 18 amazing speakers talk about 18 diverse ideas for 5 minutes each. It’s a rapid-fire experience that aims to inspire, educate, and entertain—and it’s definitely an event that you shouldn’t miss!

Putting together a Top Notch Presentation

Ignite Phoenix is going to be about participation and conversation. The basic premise of the event is based around that. Short presentations about a variety of topics meant to spark interest in various parts of the audience. It is important then that you understand how to make a presentation and utilize all of the tools given to you. With just 5 minutes and 20 auto advancing slides this means you need to be focused and ready to go.

With that in mind we have put together this post to help you brainstorm how to make an effective presentation and make slides that will rock!

First of all here is a good overview of creating any presentation using powerpoint. Nancy Duarte was one of the folks behind Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth presentation. Next is Presentation Zen from Garr Reynolds who is another presentation designer (how sweet a job name is that?). I have only glanced at the blog but I like this and this one. Of course Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop has a Speaking page with some really choice links. Then getting into left field here are some non-traditional uses of powerpoint for making Animation and Games.

In the end remember to have fun with this. The point isn’t to win a deal or get elected. The point is to meet new folks here in Phoenix and let them know something about you.
